About
Dr Lisa Tomlinson
I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with 12 years’ NHS experience.
I aim to put you at ease, and to provide compassion, warmth and understanding.
I use a range of approaches, e.g., CBT, DBT, CFT, EMDR, & CAT (informed). I provide psychological assessment & reports. I can offer supervision upon request.
When you decide to choose me as your therapist, I will start by aiming to help you feel comfortable and safe to explore the problems that brought you to therapy, by providing a non-judgmental and containing environment.
During this beginning part of therapy we will develop a good shared understanding of your problems, set goals and agree on a treatment plan that feels comfortable to you and that will aim to meet your goals . You do not need to prepare for this or feel pressured to speak about anything you are not ready to talk about, as we can take things at your own pace.
Based on the first few appointments, I then aim to adapt my approach to best meet the goals you set at the start of therapy, so that the therapy is bespoke to meet your needs. This can involve a number of different approaches and strategies. This can include approaches that help you to reprocess trauma, challenge beliefs you hold about yourself, others or the world, to building therapy skills, or helping you to find alternative ways to approach certain situations.
I most enjoy seeing people start to change their relationship with themselves, and to start to see their strengthens and best qualities.
