The length of time and costs is dependant on the specific client need. Dr Lisa Tomlinson offers individual therapy to provide personalized support and guidance. This approach focuses on your unique needs and fosters personal growth and healing. This involves using a mixture of approaches. This may involve using any of the other therapies mentioned below, as well as third wave CBT approaches, such as Compassionate Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), and Mindfulness.

Dr Tomlinson is a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. EMDR is a therapy that enables clients to recover from traumatic life events and other difficult life experiences. EMDR stimulation, such as eye movements to activate the brain's natural healing process. This technique reduces the emotional impact of distressing memories. Clients are often unaware of the impact that specific event are still having on them or feel that there is no hope of improvement. However, EMDR therapy is effective for treating PTSD, phobias, depression, anxiety, OCD, additions, and panic disorder.

Dr Tomlinson is a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner in Training and can offer CAT informed approaches. CAT focuses on relationship patterns. It is based on the idea that our early life experiences influence the way we relate to other people and how we treat ourselves. This means that sometimes patterns of behaviour, or our expectations of other people’s behaviour, can develop into unhelpful repeating patterns, as well as those that are helpful.

CAT is a safe, widely used therapy that is often used with people:

  • Living with depression, anxiety or eating problems.

  • Who have personal or relationship problems.

Dr Tomlinson has experience and training of working with people to overcome their addictions, this has included alcohol addition, substance misuse, gambling, and sex addition. Dr Tomlinson uses a range of approaches for this work, including specific substance misuse and addiction approaches. This includes using Cognitive-behavioural integrated treatment (C-BIT) a treatment approach for substance misuse, the EMDR addiction protocol, and from other approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy.

Dr Tomlinson has doctorate training in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She uses specific CBT formulations to help clients make sense of the vicious cycle they find them self stuck in, such as for, Depression, OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Phobia's and Eating Disorders.
